NIFT admission 2009

The National Institute of Fashion Technology invites applations from students for admission to Bachelor and Master programmes in fashion Design and Fashion Management/Technology.

The Institute is established under the Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India and has centres at Bengaluru (Bangalore), Bhopal, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kannur,Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi, Patna, Raebareli and Shillong.

A written Entrance Examination will be held on 8th February, 2009 at selected cities.

Prospectus along with Application form can be obtained from the selected branches of Axis Bank across India ( see http://www.nift.ac.in/admissions.html ) on payment of Rs.250/- or by post enclosing a DD of Rs.350/- in favour of NIFT, New Delhi from all NIFT Centres. These are available from 24th November to 31st December.

Some courses and eligibility: B.Des. (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication)- The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi.
OR
General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level.
OR
Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system.

A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.

BITSAT 2009

The Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) has invited application for the online test to admit the students to different first degree and integrated PG programs conducted at its three centers all over india.

Eligibility: Pass in 12th examination of 10+2 system from a recognized Central/State Board or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics securing at least 60% marks in each of these subjects and aggregate 80% marks. Those appearing for Class 12 examination in 2009 or who have passed this Examination in 2008 only are eligible to appear in the BITSAT-2009. Students who have passed Class 12 examination in 2007 or earlier are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2009. Students who are presently studying in BITS at any of its campuses are not eligible to appear in BITSAT-2009.

Applicants securing First rank at Class 12 examination of all the Central and State boards in India for the year 2009 will be given direct admission to the program of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT- 2009 score subject to the general eligibility criteria.

Applicants should register their names for BITSAT-2009 by applying in the prescribed application form online at http://www.bitsadmission.com. A print out of the submitted application has to be taken. The completed application form along with the prescribed fees of Rs. 1000/- (Rs. 500/- for female candidates) should be sent to Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani – 333031. Application form by can also be obtained by Post from the Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan - 333031 by sending a request to reach there latest by 21st January 2009, giving the applicant’s name and gender with complete postal address, along with a Crossed Demand Draft for Rs. 1100/- (Rs. 600/- for Female candidates).

Those who register for the test and reserve test dates have to download the ‘Hall ticket’, along with instructions, from BITS website between 20th and 31st of March 2009.

In addition to appearing in BITSAT-2009, candidates interested in admission to BITS, have to apply later for admission giving details of their Class 12 marks and preferences to different degree programmes offered. The prescribed application form for admission, the detailed application procedure and the final list of Degree programmes offered will be available at the BITS website, by 20th May 2009. All candidates interested in admissions have to submit the filled up form with a fee of Rs. 200/- to reach ‘The Admissions Officer, BITS, Pilani, Rajasthan – 33303’ by 5 pm on 30th June 2009.

THE TEST BITSAT will be of 3-hours duration, without break. The test consists of four parts with Part I – Physics, Part II – Chemistry, Part III - (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning, Part IV – Mathematics.

All questions will be of objective type (multiple choice questions) with four answers, only one being correct. Each correct answer will get 3 marks, while each incorrect answer will have 1 negative mark. No marks are awarded for questions not attempted. While the candidate can skip a question, the computer will not allow the candidate to choose more than one option as correct answer.

There will be 150 questions with 40 from Physics, 40 from Chemistry, 15 from English Proficiency, 10 from Logical Reasoning and 45 from Mathematics. There is no time limit for individual parts of the test. The candidate can go back and change any of his/her answers among the 150 questions. If a candidate answers all the 150 questions, without skipping any question, the candidate will have an option of attempting 12 extra questions, if there is still time left. These extra questions will be from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; with four questions from each. A candidate, who opts for extra questions, cannot go back for correction of any of the 150 questions answered earlier. At the completion of the test, the computer will announce the result to the candidate in terms of number of total correct answers and wrong answers, with the score. The candidate can also check and print his score report at the BITS website after all the tests are completed. No student will be allowed to repeat the test in the same year.

BITSAT- 2009 test will be conducted on the basis of NCERT syllabus for 11th and 12th class. The detailed syllabus is available in the Information Brochure. A sample test will be made available to the registered candidates at the BITS website on which he/she can practice as many times as desired.

Kerala Med. PG Entrance on Feb1, 2009

Application invited for the Entrance Examination for admission to Post Graduate Medical (Degree/ Diploma) Courses in the Medical Colleges in Kerala, for the academic year of 2009-2010. the entrance examination will be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode on 1.2.2009 (Sunday).

The Examination to be conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE) will consist of two Papers, each of two hours duration with each Paper having 150 Objective Type (Multiple Choice) Questions. Candidate must score 50% marks in the Entrance Examination to be considered for admission, and it is 40% for candidates belonging to SC/ST and SEBC.

Eligibility: Pass in MBBS course from any of the Medical Colleges in Kerala. Applicant should have taken M.B.B.S. Degree from any University in Kerala or from any other University, recognized by the Universities in Kerala as equivalent. Applicant should be an Indian citizen of Kerala origin.

Printout of the submitted applications along with the fee receipt in original towards application fee of Rs. 1000/- for General candidates and Rs 500/- for SC/ST candidates to be remitted in one of the selected branches of State Bank of Travancore (list available in the Prospectus) and documents required to be attached to the application as prescribed in the Prospectus should reach Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Housing Board Buildings, Santhinagar, Thiruvananthapuram - 695 001, by Registered Post/Speed Post/Hand Delivery by 5 pm on 12.01.2009 (Monday).

MAT on Feb 1, 2009

Application invited for the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA)/Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) Programmes in over 371 Institutes. The test will be held from 10 am to 12.30 pm on 1.2.2009 (Sunday) at over 71 Centres in India and 5 abroad (Full list of Examination centres available at http://www.aima-ind.org/center_list.pdf). Candidates are expected to report at the Test Centre by 9.15 am.

MAT is an objective type test with multiple-choice answers, designed to measure a person’s general aptitude and will consists of 200 questions with 40 questions each from Language Comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis and Sufficiency, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning and Indian and Global Environment.

Graduation in any discipline from any recognised University or equivalent recognised Degree is the minimum qualification for appearing in MAT. Final year students can also appear provisionally.

AFMC Admission 2009

Application invited for the MBBS course provided by Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune – 411040 [AFMC, Pune]. Admission to the MBBS course will be based on a written examination, to be conducted on May 3, 2009. A total of 130 candidates (including a maximum of 25 girls) will be selected for course. Ten seats are reserved for SC/ST candidates provided they qualify in the written examination and come within the first 500 in the final combined merit list of boys and girls.
Students, who pass out, have compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services at least for five years. A candidate seeking admission to the MBBS course should be a citizen of India, must be unmarried (Marrying during the course is not permitted), should be medically fit as per prescribed standards by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Defence and must have attained the age of 17 years on 31st December of the year of application, but must not have attained the age of 22 years on that date (Not more than 24 years in case of candidates who have passed or are appearing in final B Sc examinations). Candidate must have passed all the subjects opted for in the first attempt of the qualifying examinations (Plus Two) as a regular candidate with English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken simultaneously with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in these 3 science subjects taken together and not less than 50% marks in English and 50% marks in each of the science subjects. They must have also passed an examination in Mathematics of the 10th standard.

MBA in Petroleum Management

Institute of Petroleum Management, has announced the admission process for the for the Two Year Residential MBA, focused on Oil & Gas Sector, starting in July 2009. Only those candidates, who have appeared for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by IIMs on 16th November, 2008 are eligible to apply.
Applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in a 10+2+3 pattern.
Candidates appearing for the final Bachelor's Degree / equivalent qualification examination can also apply. COMEDK PGET on Feb 8

The ‘Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka’ (COMEDK) is conducting the Post Graduate Entrance Test 'COMEDK PGET-2009' and Centralised Counseling, for Post Graduate courses in Medical and Dental studies in Private Unaided Medical & Dental Colleges of Karnataka for 2009-10.
COMEDK PGET-2009 will be conducted only at centres in Bangalore on February 8, 2009 (Sunday).
There will be one test for admission to PG Medical and one test for admission to PG Dental Courses. Each test will have 180 multiple-choice questions of three hours duration. The test will begin at 10 am and end at 1pm
The syllabi for the Post Graduate Medical / Dental entrance test are based on the M.B.B.S. / B.D.S. syllabus as prescribed by MCI / DCI, respectively. Details are given in the website of COMEDK.
Applicants must have passed all years of their MBBS/BDS from an institution recognized by the Medical Council of India/Dental Council of India and must have completed/must be completing their internship by 30.4.2009. The test is open to all the eligible students in the country. There is no age limit for admission to the courses.

Civil Services (Preliminary) Exam 2009 on May 17

The Union Public Service Commission has invited applications for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2009, the first stage of the process for recruitment to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service and certain other Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ Central Services/Posts.

The Examination will be held on 17th May, 2009 at various centres across the country.

Applicant should not be less than 21 years of age and not more than 30 years of age as on 1st August, 2009. The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the detailed Notice.

Applicant should hold a Degree of a recognized University or an equivalent qualification and must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in Appendix-III of Rules for the Civil Services Examination, 2009 published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary dated 6th December, 2008.

The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of applicants who are otherwise eligible are as follows:
(i) General Category - Four(ii) Physically Handicapped Candidates belonging to General Category - Seven(iii) Other Backward Classes - Seven(iv) Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST) - No limit.

Medical Courses at BHU

The Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi has announced the admission schedule for MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm./B.Pharm(Ayurveda) Courses-2009.
Admission to the MBBS course (63 seats) will be based on a two stage process, the PMT-2009 Screening and PMT-2009 Main. Admission to BDS (28 seats)/BAMS (57 seats) / B. Pharm. (28 seats) and B.Pharm.(Ayurveda) (Paid seats - 30) courses, will be based only on PMT-2009 Screening.
The PMT-2009 Screening will be held on 6th May 2009 (Wednesday) at Varanasi, Delhi, Kolkata, and Hyderabad Centres.
The PMT-2009 Main for selection of candidates to the MBBS Course will be held on the 14th June 2009 (Sunday) at Varanasi Centre only.
Applicant should have passed Intermediate, 10+2 or equivalent examination in English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Zoology + Botany) taken together. For admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/B.Pharm.(Ay.), applicant should have a minimum of 50% aggregate marks for General category and 40% for OBC/SC/ST candidates. For admission to B.Pharm course, applicant should have a minimum of 60% marks for General & OBC category and 55% aggregate marks for SC/ST candidates. Candidates appearing in qualifying examination may also apply.

PG Admissions at CMC, Vellore

Christian Medical College, Vellore, Tamil Nadu-632002, has invited applications for admission to the various Post Graduate Medical programmes there for which admissions are offered in March 2009. The courses offered include MD/ MS/ Diploma and Residency in Medical Physics.
Candidates for all medical Post Graduate courses (MD /MS/ Diploma) conducted by the College will be ranked on the basis of a written test, practical tests and interview. Application invited for the Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test, conducted to select the candidates for admission to Postgraduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University (SIU)- there are seven postgraduate institutes under SIU. Test will be held from 2 pm to 4 pm on Sunday, December 21, 2008. SNAP Test is an objective test with each question having 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.

JEE 2009 on April 12

The Joint Entrance Examination 2008 (JEE 2009) for admission to the Undergraduate Courses at the Indian Institutes of Technology [there are seven IITs in India now], Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad, will be held on April 12, 2009 (Sunday)
The Examination will consist of two papers, both of objective type designed to test the comprehension, reasoning and analytical ability of candidates, with each paper having separate sections in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Paper 1 will be held from 9 a.m to 12 noon and Paper 2, from 2 pm to 5 pm. The syllabus will be made available at the websites of all IITs as well as in the Information Brochure of JEE 2009.
Facility for submission of application form, either on-line or off- line will be provided from November 19th, 2008. The facility for on-line submission of applications will be available till 24th December 2008.
Sale of applications to be submitted off-line will be available at designated branches of Banks and at IITs till 24th December 2008. Postal requests for application form will be accepted till December 16, 2008.
The last date for receipt of completed applications at IITs will be December 24, 2008.

The Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (JMET 2009)

The Joint Management Entrance Test 2009 (JMET 2009), the first step in the process of admission to the 2 year Full time Postgraduate Degree Programmes in Management offered by Shailesh J. The test will consist of 120 objective / multiple choice type questions in (i) Verbal Communication, aimed to test the candidate's comprehension of and interpretative abilities in English as a language of business (ii) Logical Reasoning, consisting of analytical reasoning, argument analysis, and analysis of explanation questions (iii) Quantitative Ability, aimed to test the candidate's understanding of Basic Mathematics and (iv) Data Interpretation, aimed at assessing the ability of the examinee to make valid interpretations from a given data set.

Such candidates, if selected, will be admitted provisionally, and their continuation in the programme is subject to the completion of all requirements for the qualifying degree and submission of provisional degree certificate on or before the date stipulated by the admitting Institute.
The results of JMET 2009 provide a basis to each participating Institute to shortlist potential candidates for conducting its own selection process, like, Group Discussion/Interview etc. However, calling the candidates for such later process of selection is the prerogative of the admitting Institute. JMET 2009 qualified candidates may contact the management departments/schools of the concerned institutes for additional information, if any. Final selection would depend on their performance in each of the components of the selection process.

Before submission of online application, applicant will have to take a Demand Draft towards Application fee which is Rs. 750/- (Rs.350/- for SC/ST candidates). The DD should be taken in favour of 'Organising Chairman, JMET 2009' on any nationalized bank, payable at 'Kanpur'. The DD number, Bank drawn on and the date and amount of DD will have to be entered during online submission of Application Form.
Applicant should also keep ready one recent, good contrast coloured photograph. Applicant should ensure that a good quality printer is connected to the computer from where the candidate is submitting the online application form.
Data for Online Application should be submitted by clicking the link given at the end of the Page. Printout of the application form for onward transmission to GATE Office, IIT Kanpur cannot be obtained otherwise. After submission of all the details, applicant should preview the form. If not satisfied, back button may be used and the online application form revised/modified. The ‘submit’ button has to be clicked after the candidate is satisfied about the correctness of the entries.
After the particulars are submitted, a print version of the application form will be generated. The form will have the application number and the barcode for the application number. Applicant should note down the application number generated below the barcode. A print out of this has to be taken on a good quality A4 size paper by clicking the print button. On this printed application form, the applicant should paste his/her recent good quality non-attested photo of size 3.5 cm x 4 cm, with a good adhesive; in the space provided.
Applicant may keep an identical photograph in reserve for future need. Applicant should then sign in the space provided for specimen signature and the declaration at the bottom of the application form. The signature should be identical in both the places. Signature in capital letters or initials is not acceptable. Applicant should keep a photocopy of the application form and Demand Draft for future reference.

Regional Maths Olympiad on Nov 9

The National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM), a unit of Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India has been organizing Mathematical Olympiads in our country, first at the regional level and then at the national and international levels, since 1988.

OBJECTIVES: To find out the talented students who have the capacity for original and critical thinking and to encourage them to choose a career in Mathematics and also to select an Indian team for the International Mathematical Olympiad.

ELIGIBILITY: Mainly, students of standard XI/XII and a few exceptionally talented students of standard X.

SYLLABUS: Roughly of the plus two level. Thrust areas will be Geometry, Number Theory, Algebra and Combinatory. The questions will be quite challenging. There is no prescribed syllabus.

About 30 toppers of INMO-INMO awardees will be invited for a training camp to select an Indian team for IMO-2009 to be held in Germany. IMO 2008 was held in Spain where India was placed 31st, securing 5 Bronze medals.

Five toppers of RMO will be awarded a cash prize of Rs. 2000/- each sponsored by the Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Enviornment ( KSCSTE). Five toppers of RMO will be awarded “Professor C.S. Venkataraman Memorial Prizes” and many other attractive gifts. All students selected for INMO will be given merit certificates. INMO awardees are eligible for NBHM scholarships for higher studies.

Application material may be obtained in person from a USEFI office. If making a request by mail, send a self-addressed stamped (Rs. 25.00) 10" x 7" envelope to the USEFI office in your region. Please state your academic/professional qualifications, date of birth, present position, and fellowship category in your request letter.
Completed applications (including enclosures, if any) must be submitted through the appropriate administrative authority (Vice-Chancellor/Registrar/Director/Principal), if applicable, to the USEFI office within your region. Applicants are requested to submit separate applications if applying for more than one fellowship category. Applications must reach USEFI by the specified due date or the following business day if the due date falls on a weekend/holiday.
In the case of central or state government employees, a copy of the completed application should be forwarded through the cadre controlling authority. Such candidates are also advised to send an advance copy (a photocopy of the completed application) to USEFI, New Delhi well before the application due date. Consideration will, however, be given only if the application forwarded by the cadre controlling authority reaches USEFI by the due date.
Incomplete applications or applications not forwarded through the proper channel will not be considered.
Applicants are also advised to request three referees to send in their recommendations, either on the Reference Report Form or the referee's letterhead (as specified in the Preliminary Application Form). By Post: Candidates from remote places can obtain the Information Bulletin with Application Form by sending written request to the Controller of Exams, Education Division, ICAR, KAB-II, Pusa, New Delhi-110012 along with Bank Draft of Rs. 450/- (Rs. 400/- + Rs. 50/- towards postal and handling charges) for General, OBC and UPS Categories and Rs. 250/- (200/- + 50/- towards postal and handling charges) for S.C., S.T. and P.H. Categories. The demand draft must be drawn in favour of DDG (Education), ICAR payable at New Delhi with a self addressed envelope (30x25 cm) without postage stamps. The candidate should write his/ her name and address on the back of the demand draft. No request for supply of Information Bulletin by post will be accepted after 04 March, 2008.
National Talent Scholarship (NTS): Rs. 1,000/- per month for U.G. would be awarded to all selected in this examination who join any University in ICAR-SAU system, located outside their state of domicile.
Question Paper: There will be only one question paper consisting of objective type questions in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (or Agriculture) for “STREAM–A” and Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics for “STREAM – B”. The candidates may choose any Stream according to their eligibility and choice of the subjects. The question paper will be in ENGLISH and HINDI.

NOTIFICATION

1. Applications are invited for the Entrance Examinations for admission to the following Degree
Courses in various Professional Colleges in the State for 2008-09.

Note:- Candidates satisfying the eligibility conditions as laid down in the Prospectus and who seek admission to all the above mentioned courses in Government seats have to apply in the
prescribed application form issued by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations (CEE).
There is separate Entrance Examinations for admission to Engineering and Medical Courses
conducted by the CEE and the allotment will be based on the rank in these Entrance
Examinations. The CEE will not conduct any Entrance Examination for admission to B.Arch.
course. However, candidates seeking admission to B.Arch. course should compulsorily
appear and qualify the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) conducted by the
National Institute of Advanced Studies in Architecture (NIASA).

2. Eligibility for Admission:
(A) Nativity:
(i) Applicant should be an Indian citizen. PIO/OCI Card Holders who have studied/are studying in Kerala from Class VIII to XII will be treated on par with Indian citizens for the limited purpose of admission.
(ii) Both Keralites and Non-Keralites are eligible to apply for the Entrance Examination. Applicants of Kerala origin will be categorized as ‘Keralites’. Others will be categorized as ‘Non-Keralites’.(iii) A candidate will be considered as a ’Keralite’, for the limited purpose of eligibility for admission, if (i) he/she or his/her father/mother was born in Kerala OR (ii) he/she has been a resident of Kerala for a period of 5 years within a period of 12 years OR (iii) he/she has undergone his/her school studies from Standards VIII to XII in educational institution(s) in Kerala. The candidate should submit relevant certificate along with the application form as prescribed in the Prospectus to avail such benefit.
(iv) Non-Keralites are classified as ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ and ‘Non-Keralite Category-II’.
(v) ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ candidates are those who have undergone the qualifying course in Kerala, and who are the sons/daughters of Employees of the Government of India, or,
employees who are serving in connection with the affairs of the Government of Kerala, subject tothe condition that, all categories of the employees mentioned above should have served in
Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years, or, have served in connection with the affairs of the
Government of Kerala for a minimum period of 2 years. Such candidates will be eligible for
admission to the Government seats under ‘State Merit’ only, for all the courses, which are filled on the basis of the rank in the Entrance Examination(s) or the rank list prepared by giving equal weightage to the marks in NATA and qualifying examination, as applicable.
Candidates who do not belong to the ‘Keralite’ or ‘Non-Keralite Category-I’ will be treated as
‘Non-Keralite Category-II'. They are eligible for admission ONLY to the ‘State Merit’ seats in the Private Self-financing Engineering Colleges in the State and in the Management Quota seats in Self-financing Engineering institutions sponsored by Government. Non-Keralite candidates will not be considered for admission against reserved seats.
Note:- Allotments to Self-financing Colleges from the State Rank lists for all courses will be
subject to the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India in WP(C)s on the issues
relating to Self-financing colleges pending before it and orders of Central and State
Governments.
(B) Academic Qualification:
(i) Medical/Agriculture/Veterinary/B.Sc.–Nursing (Ayurveda) and B.Pharm. (Ayurveda)
Courses: Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary Examination or examination
recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology, and 50% marks in Physics,
Chemistry and Biology put together. Those who wish to take admission to MBBS/BDS courses
should acquire 50% marks in the Medical Entrance Examination (As per the guidelines issued
by Medical Council of India). Candidates seeking admission to B.V.Sc. & AH course under the Kerala Agricultural University, in addition to the qualification prescribed under (a) above, should have passed the qualifying examination with 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English put together (as per the regulation of Veterinary Council of India).
(ii) B.Pharm. Course: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or
examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology / Mathematics / Biotechnology/ Computer Science separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics / Bio-technology / Computer Science put together are eligible. Such candidates will not be eligible for admission to B.Pharm. (Ayurveda) course.
Candidates who have passed D.Pharm. course with 50% mark in the final Diploma Examination in Pharmacy are also eligible for admission to B.Pharm. course, subject to the condition that they should have passed Higher Secondary / Pre-Degree or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology / Mathematics as optional. Such candidates will be eligible only for B.Pharm. course and will not be admitted to other Medical / Agriculture/ Veterinary Courses.
(iii) B.P.T. Course: Candidates should have passed the Higher Secondary examination or
examination recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology, and 50% marks in
Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together. In addition, the candidates should have studied
English as a subject at 12th standard / Plus Two level.
(iv) Eligibility of B.Sc. Degree holders: Those who apply based on their B.Sc. Degree, for
admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, B.H.M.S, BSMS, B.Sc. (Nursing) and B.Sc. (MLT) Courses,
should have obtained their B.Sc. Degree with one of the subjects, Physics, Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, Bio-Chemistry as Main, and any one or two of these subjects as subsidiaries, with 50% marks for Main and Subsidiaries taken together, provided they have passed the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination, with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects.
(v) Engineering Courses: Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry / Bio-technology / Computer Science / Biology put together are eligible for admission. Candidates having Three year Diploma inEngineering awarded by the Board of Technical Examinations, Kerala or equivalent, having 50% marks in the final Diploma examination, are also eligible for admission. However, these Diploma holders are not eligible for admission to the Engineering courses offered by Kerala Agricultural University.
(vi) Architecture Course: Candidates who have passed 10+2 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with Mathematics as a subject of examination, with 50% marks in aggregate are eligible. Candidates who have passed Three year Diploma in Engineering or equivalent examination with 50% marks in final Diploma examination are also eligible to apply. In addition the candidates should qualify the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) with 40% marks. Reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC) candidates should have obtained a minimum of 35% marks in NATA, as per guidelines of Council of Architecture. (For details, visit www.nata.in).
(C) Relaxation in marks in the Qualifying Examination: For all courses, a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination will be allowed to those candidates who belong to the communities listed under the Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) and whose annual family income is up to Rs. 2.5 lakhs (Rupees Two Lakhs and Fifty Thousand only). SC/ST candidates need only a pass in the qualifying examination. But candidates belonging to SEBC categories, seeking admission to MBBS/BDS courses, need 45% marks in Biology and 45% marks inPhysics, Chemistry and Biology put together, in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in Medical Entrance Examination. Candidates belonging to SC/ST categories need 40% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology put together in the qualifying examination and 40% marks in the Entrance Examination for seeking admission to MBBS/BDS Courses.
(D) Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for Qualifying Examinations: Candidates who have not passed the qualifying examination but have appeared/are appearing for the Higher Secondary or equivalent examination or the three-year Engineering Diploma
Examination of this academic year, will also be permitted to take the Entrance Examination(s)
provisionally. But, such candidates should prove their academic eligibility on the date of
admission. Candidates applying based on B.Sc. Degree, referred to under paragraph 2 B (iv)
above, should have passed the Degree Examination at the time of submission of application.
(E) Age: The candidate should complete 17 years of age as on 31st December, 2008.

3. Schedule for the Entrance Examinations:
The Entrance Examinations will be held at all the District Centres in Kerala, New Delhi and Dubai (UAE), on the dates mentioned below as per Indian Standard Time (IST).

Engineering Entrance Examination (For Engineering courses except Architecture) :
21.04.2008 Monday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-I : Physics & Chemistry.
22.04.2008 Tuesday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-II: Mathematics.

Medical Entrance Examination
[For Medical (including B.Pharm.), Agriculture and Veterinary Courses]:
23.04.2008 Wednesday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-I : Chemistry & Physics.
24.04.2008 Thursday 10.00 A.M. to 12.30 P.M. Paper-II: Biology.

Note (i): Appearance in the two papers of the concerned Entrance Examination is compulsory for being considered for inclusion in the Engineering/Medical rank lists. Candidates seeking
admission to B.Pharm. (Ayurveda) Course also should write both the Papers of the Medical
Entrance Examination.

(ii): Admission to the B.Pharm. course will be based on a separate rank list prepared on the
basis of the performance of candidates in the ‘Chemistry & Physics’ Paper (Paper I) of
the Medical Entrance Examination. Hence, those who wish to be considered for admission to
the B.Pharm. Course should compulsorily appear for the 'Chemistry & Physics' Paper of the
Medical Entrance Examination.

(iii): Candidates seeking admission to B.Arch. course should also submit the Application form to the CEE. There is no State level Entrance Examination for this purpose. However such
candidates should write the National Aptitude Test for Architecture and should forward the
NATA score and mark list of the qualifying examination to the CEE on or before 12.06.2008.

4. Application Forms:
(a) ONLY ONE APPLICATION NEED BE SUBMITTED FOR THE ENTRANCE EXAMINATIONS FOR ADMISSION TO ONE OR MORE OF MEDICAL, AGRICULTURE, VETERINARY, B.PHARM, ENGINEERING AND (ARCHITECTURE) COURSES.
(b) SC/ST candidates should apply in light Yellow application forms and all other candidates should apply in the General application form (Light Blue). Candidates under ‘Other Eligible Communities' (OEC) should apply in the General application form. Candidates who are children of Intercaste Married Couple, of which one is SC/ST, should apply in the form meant for SC/ST.
(c) Fee of Application: General candidates - Rs. 700/- ; SC/ST candidates - Rs. 350/-.
(d) Application Distribution Centres: The Application form and Prospectus will be distributed from 1 pm on 28.01.2008 to 29.02.2008 through selected branches of Canara Bank and State Bank of Travancore in Kerala and outside the State. The amount towards the fee of application is to be remitted in cash at the distribution centre. The list of Canara Bank and State Band of Travancore branches, selected as sales centres, is appended separately. Application Forms will not be available by post or sold from the office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations.
(e) Application form: All candidates will receive the application form, OMR Data Sheet, an
envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations and the
Prospectus. Candidates should ensure that the Application number printed in the
Application Form, OMR Data Sheet and on the cover are the same.
(f) Facility to Download the Application Form: Candidates not claiming any reservation/belonging to the Non-Keralite Category–II can apply in the prescribed format by downloading the application from the website cee-kerala.org. Such candidates should send the filled-in application along with a Demand Draft for Rs. 700/- (Rupees Seven Hundred only), drawn on any Nationalized Bank, in favour of the ‘Commissioner for Entrance Examinations’, payable at Thiruvananthapuram, so as to reach this office before the last date and time for receipt of applications.
(g) Candidates opting DUBAI (UAE) as the Centre for Entrance Examination: Candidates, who choose ‘DUBAI’ as their centre for the Entrance Examination, should submit along with their filled in application form, a Demand Draft for Rs. 7,000/- (Rupees Seven Thousand only), drawn on a Nationalized Bank in favour of the 'Commissioner for Entrance Examinations', and payable at Thiruvananthapuram. Those applying in downloaded forms should enclose a Demand Draft for a total amount of Rs. 7,700/- (Rupees Seven Thousand Seven Hundred only). The candidates opting Dubai centre should note that the examinations are conducted as per Indian Standard Time (IST).

5. Last date and time for receipt of filled in Application Forms:
The filled in Application Form along with the OMR DATA SHEET and other relevant documents, to be submitted with the Application Form, is to be sent in the printed envelope bearing the address of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations supplied along with the application form, so as to reach him before 5 p.m. on 29.02.2008 (Friday), by Hand Delivery/ Registered Post / Speed Post. Completed Applications will be received in the Office of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on holidays also.
6. Belated Applications: Belated applications will be rejected. Candidates are therefore advised to apply well in advance. The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations will not be responsible for any postal delay.
7. Candidates will not be allowed to include any information in the application form or to submit any Certificates/Documents claiming reservation or any other benefits, after the submission of the application, under any circumstances. Requests in this regard will not be entertained by the Office of the Commissioner.
8. Certificates that are to be obtained in the body of the Application should be obtained in the body of the Application form itself.
9. Incomplete or defective applications will be summarily REJECTED and no correspondence will be entertained in this regard.
10. The Entrance Examinations and the subsequent allotments will be based on the various
provisions laid down in the Prospectus approved by the Government. An extract of the
Prospectus will also be available in the website of the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations
at “www.cee-kerala.org”. Candidates are requested to go through the various provisions in the Prospectus before submitting their applications.
